A Milestone Worth Celebrating

Being recognised as a finalist is more than an award nomination—it’s a reflection of the relationships we’ve built, the homes we’ve transformed, and the trust our clients place in us. Over the past four years, The Kitchen Den has grown from a small independent studio in Bradley Stoke into a reputable name in bespoke kitchen and bathroom design serving Almondsbury, Thornbury, Frampton Cotterell, Winterbourne, and beyond.

To be recognised among so many talented professionals is an incredible acknowledgement of our commitment to delivering thoughtful, functional, and beautifully crafted spaces.

Whether it’s a modern family kitchen, a luxury bathroom retreat, or a full-home cohesive design, our goal is always the same: to create spaces that truly feel like home.

Beyond the Kitchen: How to create acohesive colour story for your whole home

I’m Rebecca from Bailey&Co Interior Design, and I specialise in helping homeowners bring colour, character, and cohesion to their spaces. When clients are planning a kitchen with The Kitchen Den, I can come on board to help extend that sense of style and flow throughout the rest of the home — so that everything works beautifully together.

When you invest in a beautiful new kitchen, it often becomes the heart of your home — a space for gathering, entertaining, and everyday life. But a new kitchen rarely exists in isolation. Once it’s installed, you may notice that the adjoining rooms suddenly feel disconnected or tired. The flooring doesn’t quite flow, the wall colours jar, or the overall atmosphere doesn’t feel as balanced as it once did.
That’s because a kitchen renovation has a ripple effect. It redefines how the whole downstairs of your home looks and feels — which is where thoughtful colour and design come in.

When the Kitchen feels disconnected

You’ve chosen your dream cabinetry, carefully selected your worktops, and picked the perfect hardware — but once the new kitchen is in, the rest of the house can suddenly feel left behind. You've moved on and the rest of the house now represents the ‘old you’. Perhaps your once-favourite paint colour now clashes with the new finishes, or your dining space feels flat next to the fresh vibrancy of the kitchen. Sometimes, it’s the flooring transitions that feel abrupt, or the lighting tone that doesn’t complement the new layout. These may seem like small details, but they have a big impact on how your home feels as a whole. After a renovation, it’s natural to gravitate towards the new, fresh space — but you still want to feel comfortable and connected throughout your entire home. Thoughtful design can make those transitions seamless, helping every area flow beautifully together.

The power of a cohesive colour story

A cohesive colour story connects your rooms in a way that feels natural and intentional. It doesn’t mean everything has to match — in fact, the best homes use colour variation with a clear sense of purpose. When colour is considered across the whole home, you create flow and harmony that enhances both the kitchen and the adjoining spaces. Here are a few simple ways to achieve that:

  • Repeat an accent tone from your kitchen (for example, a soft sage or rich navy) in accessories or upholstery in the living or dining area.

  • Use tonal variations of the same colour family throughout adjoining rooms to create balance without uniformity

  • Threads — if your kitchen features warm timber or brass details, carry that warmth through to wall colours and textiles elsewhere.

It’s these subtle design decisions that make the whole house feel curated and connected, rather than like a series of separate rooms.

Reducing stress and decision fatigue

Let’s be honest — renovating a kitchen can be overwhelming. There are so many decisions to make: cabinetry colours, worktops, tiles, flooring, paint, lighting, handles, fabrics… and each one affects the others.

Working with an interior designer in partnership with The Kitchen Den can remove much of that stress. Together, we can create a clear visual direction and colour story for your home from the start — meaning every choice supports the next.

Instead of facing a flood of endless options, you’ll have a cohesive palette, a well-thought-out plan, and a professional eye ensuring that everything aligns beautifully.

This collaborative approach not only saves time and avoids costly mistakes, but it also results in a space that feels even more personal, polished, and well beyond what you initially imagined.

When clients work with both myself and The Kitchen Den, they benefit from a seamless process — one team focusing on the craftsmanship and functionality of the kitchen, and another ensuring the colour, flow, and atmosphere of the entire home are perfectly balanced.

How design expertise elevates the end result

Interior design isn’t just about aesthetics — it’s about how your home feels and functions day to day. When a kitchen is designed in isolation, it can sometimes unintentionally clash with adjoining areas. But when we consider the whole home together, the result is so much more than a beautiful kitchen; it’s a living environment that feels cohesive and considered.

I look at everything from paint colours and flooring transitions to lighting warmth, texture, and how one space visually connects to the next. Whether your home has a large open-plan layout or a series of more traditional rooms, the goal is the same — to create flow, warmth, and character throughout.

A real-life example

In a recent conversion project, my clients had just completed a stunning new kitchen with soft sage green cabinetry, stunning quartz worktops and brushed brass accents. The space looked incredible — but as the kitchen and living area were open plan, it was important to ensure the adjoining space felt fully aligned and cohesive with the Kitchen design.

By continuing a complementary soft neutral for the walls, a patterned rug that pulled in the brass and sage green tones, and a few natural textures to link back to the oak flooring, we transformed the entire downstairs. The result felt effortlessly cohesive — a home that flowed beautifully from one space to the next, with the kitchen as the star

Bringing it all together

If you’re planning your dream kitchen with The Kitchen Den, it’s worth thinking about how your new space will connect with the rest of your home. By involving a designer early on, you can ensure every element — from the colour palette to the textures and finishes — works in harmony.

Between The Kitchen Den’s craftsmanship and my expertise in colour and interior flow, we can help you create a home that feels calm, cohesive, and beautifully “you.”

“Together, we can make sure your new kitchen feels perfectly at home — beautifully connected to the rest of your space, and designed to work effortlessly for the way you live.”

What Is a Faux In-Frame Kitchen – And Is It Right for You?

If you love the look of classic in-frame kitchens but are working with a more modest budget or want a more streamlined option, you might be interested in a clever alternative: the faux in-frame kitchen.

At The Kitchen Den, we design kitchens that blend style, functionality, and value. Faux in-frame is a fantastic option that ticks all those boxes—and here’s why.

What Is a Faux In-Frame Kitchen?

Traditional in-frame kitchens feature cabinet doors set within a frame, giving a solid, handcrafted look. They're beautiful, built to last, and often associated with premium kitchen ranges. But they also come with a higher price tag and longer lead times.

Faux in-frame kitchens replicate the look of this timeless style—without the extra cost. Instead of the doors sitting within a frame, they are standard lay-on doors with an applied trim that gives the illusion of an in-frame setup. The result? All the charm of a traditional in-frame, with the efficiency of a modern kitchen system.

Why Choose Faux In-Frame?

1. The Look – Without the Premium Price
Faux in-frame gives you that bespoke, furniture-style look that fits beautifully in both modern country kitchens and more contemporary spaces. You can achieve this refined aesthetic at a more accessible price point.

2. More Design Flexibility
Because it’s built on a standard kitchen carcass, faux in-frame kitchens offer more flexibility in terms of layout, internal fittings, and integration with modern appliances.

3. Faster Turnaround
Traditional in-frame kitchens can take longer to manufacture and fit due to their custom joinery. Faux in-frame, on the other hand, speeds things up—ideal if you’re working on a tighter timeline.

4. Easier Maintenance
With no actual frame for dust or grime to collect around, faux in-frame doors can be easier to clean and maintain.

Where We’ve Used It

We’ve incorporated faux in-frame styles in many of our projects across Bradley Stoke, Almondsbury, Thornbury and the wider Bristol area. They’ve been especially popular with clients looking to blend the warmth of a shaker kitchen with modern efficiency. If you'd like to see one in person, pop into our showroom and we’ll happily show you some examples.

Is Faux In-Frame Right for You?

If you want a kitchen with the elegance of in-frame cabinetry but with more practical perks, faux in-frame might just be the perfect fit. At The Kitchen Den, we’ll help you decide what works best for your space, your lifestyle, and your budget.

Come and chat with us at our Bradley Stoke or Zetland Road showroom. Or book a design consultation online—we’d love to bring your dream kitchen to life.

Where We’ve Used It

We’ve incorporated faux in-frame styles in many of our projects across Bradley Stoke, Almondsbury, Thornbury and the wider Bristol area. One of our favourite ranges for achieving this look is the Kitchen Stori Arrington collection. It offers a timeless in-frame aesthetic with a premium painted finish—perfect for a sophisticated yet approachable kitchen design.

If you'd like to see one in person, pop into our showroom and we’ll happily show you some examples.
